Instructions
1. Activate the Yeast

- Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl combine:

- sugar
- salt
- baking powder
- baking soda
3. Cut in the Fat
- Add cold butter and shortening.
- Use a pastry cutter or fork until mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
4. Add Liquids
- Stir in yeast mixture and buttermilk.
- Mix gently until a soft dough forms.
5. Roll & Cut
- Turn dough onto a floured surface.
- Roll to about ½-inch thickness.
- Cut with a biscuit cutter.
6. Rise
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet.
- Cover and let rise 30–45 minutes.
7. Bake
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
8. Finish
- Brush tops with melted butter for extra flavor.
